Objectives
The tutorial aims at making reproducible research mainstream in the robotics community.
No similar tutorials have been organized at ICRA.
Structure
The tutorial will blend standard lectures, flipped sessions – prepared by involving the community prior to the tutorial - and competitive _and_ cooperative group work. People who are unable to travel to the conference will be able to participate, through Zoom session, and streaming talks + Q&A. Some interaction will be stimulated before and after the workshop. The event will provide a venue for young researchers to interact with senior researchers. It is expected that early career researchers should be very interested to a state transition about how reproducible research can be performed. The knowledge of reproducible research methods may leverage their career opportunities and will be an essential tool for boosting this transition which is fundamental for all community.
We will propose (prior to the event) specific case studies to the prospective participants, as for instance reproduce a simple visual servoing. The aim is to learn how to make reproducible research and we will evaluate their solutions during the tutorial. This will allow to benchmark the proposed cases.
We will also allow participants to propose their own cases of study, through a specific call on the main mailings and social media prior to the event. This will represent a way for them to benchmark their own research results and prove their reproducibility.
